Francisco Núñez Palacios holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and a Master of Arts in Performance with a specialization in Orchestral Conducting, both from the University of Chile. His main teachers include David Del Pino Klinge, Rodolfo Fischer, Zolt Nagy, Michal Nesterowicz, Marin Alsop, Giancarlo Guerrero, Emmanuel Siffert, Pedro Ignacio Calderón, Noam Zur, Carlos Vieu, Ligia Amadio, and Rüdiger Bohn. He also holds a Master’s degree in Applied Composition for Audiovisual Media from the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona.

In 2009, he won first prize at the first Orchestral Conducting Competition organized by Chile’s National Youth Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has led performances with the Lima National Symphony Orchestra, the National University of Cuyo Symphony Orchestra, the Mendoza Philharmonic, and the Rosario Provincial Symphony Orchestra. In Chile, he has conducted numerous orchestras, including the Chilean National Symphony Orchestra, the Chilean Chamber Orchestra, the Valdivia Chamber Orchestra, the Temuco Philharmonic, the Antofagasta Symphony Orchestra, the USACH Orchestra, the Concepción Symphony Orchestra, and the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra, where he held the position as Artistic Director from 2016 to 2017.

As a conductor, Francisco has taken part to numerous recordings, including Sinfónico (2013), Ya es tiempo – Homenaje a Congreso (2020), and Músicas Imaginadas, Vol. 6 (2023).

He has led a variety of popular music projects, such as the Quintessence Ensemble, Alevare, and most recently, Arlequín, while also maintaining an ongoing collaboration with the Chilean band Congreso.

He received training in opera conducting with Maestro Carlos Vieu and studied composition with Diego Schissi in Argentina and José Nieto in Spain.

Francisco has composed original music for multiple theatrical productions and arranged hundreds of works for ensembles and orchestras. Among these, his symphonic adaptation of the main theme from the television program Informe Especial was recorded by the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile. His work Blues para Aquiles won first place at the 2022 Heritage Short Film Composition Competition held during the Valdivia Film Festival, and in 2024, he earned top honors at the 20th Luis Advis Composition Competition with his piece Vendaval.

As a music editor, he has restored and prepared works by leading Chilean composers, including Luis Advis, Jorge Peña Hen, and Nino García.

After winning the 1st Orchestral Conducting Competition organized by FOJI in 2009, he has gone on to conduct numerous symphony orchestras across Chile, Argentina, and Peru. From 2016 to 2017, he served as Artistic Director of the University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra.

In the popular music world, he has led ensembles such as Quintessence, Alevare, and more recently, Arlequín, and frequently collaborates with the band Congreso. He has recorded and released a number of albums with these groups, as well as with various symphonic ensembles.

As a music editor, he has restored and prepared works by prominent Chilean composers including Luis Advis, Jorge Peña Hen, and Nino García. His output as a composer spans theater scores and hundreds of arrangements, including a symphonic adaptation of the main theme from the television program Informe Especial, performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile. Chilean conductor, pianist, and composer. Winner of the 1st Orchestral Conducting Competition organized by FOJI in 2009, he has conducted various symphony orchestras in Chile, Argentina, and Peru, serving as the Artistic Director of the Universidad de La Serena Symphony Orchestra from 2016 to 2017. He has worked closely with various popular music projects, including the Quintessence Ensemble and grupo Congreso.
